This was a long-term project that started in 1990 and ended only two years ago (for the time being). The model originally was the Revell 1/426 kit. Very few parts are in their "out of the box" configuration. The Revell model is a conglomeration of the 1936 and 1941 refits, requiring major modifications to bring it up to December 1941.

The GMM photo-etch set and some scratch built parts make up the majority of the ship. The water is acrylic gel medium over florist board. The moorings were carved from resin. The cabling is single strand dental floss (non-wax). Dental floss is thin enough for scale and, this is the best part, it won't break when touched. Unfortunately, the cables are hard to see in the photos.
