Classic Warships has released the 16th book in its series of Naval Monographs of Warships. Book #16 covers the Battleship USS New Jersey BB-62.

The book is one of Steve's "Photo Album" series. Normally , in this series, an entire class s covered. In this particular volume, only BB-62 USS New Jersey is covered. The book is in the same format of all of the previous books and is 64 pages long. The book covers USS New Jersey from her Keel laying in 1940 to her decommissioning in 1991.

In the beginning of this book you will find a short history of the ship throughout its career.  After that, you will find the rest of the book absolutely packed with photographs. Most of the photographs are crystal-clear and very well done.  There are the usual shots of the ship underway during various times in the ship's life. What really stands out, however, is that Steve Included a series of razor-sharp photographs of the New Jersey undergoing refit at Puget Sound Navy Yard in June 1945.  The wealth of detail found in this series of photographs is worth the price of the book. The book also contains some excellent color photographs of the ship including a commissioning shot of New Jersey wearing MS21 (solid Navy Blue) camouflage scheme. If you want to build a model of the New Jersey, this books is a must-have. 

Steve Wiper's Classic Warships books are designed to tell the story of the subject with pictures instead of words. Steve Wiper has become the master of this craft with his series of naval warship books. He is providing a source of information that few of us have access to and giving it to us at a reasonable cost. I would highly recommend this book, or any of Classic Warships publications, to anyone who has a love of ships.
